I dont know how many CCF we used last year.
WE were paying $1.10 a CF plus $35 a month so prolly about 400
have a 1800 sf two story round house,
actually its 13 sides, each side 9 feet
long on the outside.

I calcuate roughly 1900 sq ft of exterior wall.
walls have regular 3.5'' fiberglass.
Its the 390 sq ft of single pane glass thats killing us !

last March i blew in 60 bags of cellulose in the attic, alot of which is cathredral
ceiling so getting it in was a pain.
squirrells had eaten most of the original fiberglass
and some of the wiring.

also taped plastic over most of the windows.
looks kinda trailer park-y but ....
about half the windows are drafty because the house has settled 4 inches over about 17 feet.
due to rotten support beams.(got the house for exactly half what the next door neighbors paid though !)
After a lot of paint in side and out, remodeling the bathrooms with free stuff from someone else who was remodeling
the house appraised for 70% more than we paid.
Last winter was out first winter in the house.
had no idea what it would cost to heat, but wouldnt be a problem if
the greedy gas co;s hadn't raised the price 550%
in one year. I really hope it comes back to bite them for what they did.
tickeled me pink to see Enron go down.Hope Atlanta gaslight is next.
The greedy gas companies are what caused the recession we are in.
The bldg where i work, the jan gas bill went from $2500 to $15,000
guess what, several folks got laid off, so they could pay the bill.

Now the wholesale price has dropped like 30% but has the retail price dropped?
Course not. they say they have to keep the price high because of all the folks that couldnt pay their
gas bill .
So I did the right thing, worked a lot of overtime and side jobs and paid mine, i should have just ignored it like everyone else.
cause now i am paying the bill for all the deadbeats that didnt.

Hope to swap out the 4 sliding glass doors for double pane french doors, and swap the seven 5 ft x 7 ft windows,
for double panes or make some storm windows before next winter.

Also hope to find a good deal on 2 heat pumps and get them in too..
Also looking for a used "Monitor" kerosene vent thru the wall heater.
A friend has one and it heats his house for cheap. bit its like $2000 to buy.
