No misconceptions here, just a difference of opinion and choice as to what material I use. I did run across some building code information that stated that metal studs in harsh environments such as coastal areas should have a min. G-90 protective coating. Maybe BobF knows what this is but I'm guessing that it is some type of rust preventative similar to galvanized. Also saw a reference to the Residential Steel Framing Manual (RG930) which can be ordered at 800-79-steel. Good luck with your choice.
