bizarre laundry tub connection

Posted by nick on April 4th, 2004 11:17 PM

Ok I have a really bizarre question. The house that I just bought did not have a laundry tub installed in the laundry room. The washer and dryer are stackable so I would like to install a tub where the washer originally went. I have figured out a way to drain the tub but I am completely stumped on how to attach a faucet to the current water lines. I figure that can split the washing machine hot and cold lines, but my question is how do I convert the washing machine hose size (which I think is 3/4 to a ips faucet connection? Can I just buy a reducer or will that be prone to leaks? Is the issue of straight threads and tapered threads an issue here?
