Lynn, unless someone on here lives in your area, all they could give you is what's normal in their area. I would get an estimate from a local electrician before I signed the final papers. It sounds like you need a total rewire to bring your house up to code and to be safe. No, walls don't have to be torn out, normally. Outlets can be added. GFCI's don't work properly on two wire circuits. Double wired breakers are a hazard. I, and this is just me speaking, would get an estimate so I wouldn't be surprised after closing.
