I'm doing a 20x36 patio. Is there an easy way to screed the sand before laying the pavers? The only thing I can think of is to make a 20+ foot screed by combining several pieces of dimension lumber lengthwise. Is there a better way? The edging is 4x6 timbers, and the sand needs to be 1 1/2" below the top of the timbers.
I've seen a method where several parallel pieces of 1" pvc pipe are laid on the gravel, sand is added to the top of the piping. Then a 2x4 is used to screed down the pipes. However, this would seem to require that my gravel is laid to the absolute exact height all over. So then I'd really have to screed the gravel!
I'm trying to be as exact as possible here.
I'm a rookie at this, so the best way may be obvious... Can anyone help?
