I am installing a claw foot tub and have special ordered the fixtures (handles, valves, shower curtain ring and shower riser, all chrome). The problem I have run into is that the valve assembly and connection for the shower riser are sloped back at the angle of the tub wall, which causes the shower riser to be tipped back at the same angle. To fasten the riser to the wall it (the riser pipe) needs to be straight up and down. I have no access to pipe bending equiptment and would like to try and bend it the 10 degrees or so I need to make it straight. Thought I would cover a round object with soft material and bend it to the proper angle but I'm worried the chrome will crack or the pipe will collapse. I don't need to bend it much, the pipe is 1/2 " and fairly light walled.
