As a father who's now married daughter moved from a small apartment to a 150 year old house, you can't give her a better present. Some thoughts--Sears $60 router is pretty darned good but you will spend a lot more on bits, anything but carbide is a waste of money, and building the Wood router table will cost more than buying one but will be more usable. If you live in a city, check for power tool repair centers in your town. You can get quality remanufactured tools at about half list price and they will last a lot longer than the mass marketed stuff. Got to go put up a new handmade oak towel rack in my daughters bathroom.
