the removal process is difficult to say the least and your attempts will only cause some knicks and dings in the drywall, which can be repaired.

I save the homeowner labor and expense by re rocking the walls with 1/4 inch rock. Its thin enough to not cause baseboard and window and door problems and will finish out the area quicker and easier.

You can also re float the area with the aid of a texturer.

I know there are some product on the market that say they will remove this glue, but I have not had much luck with them.
