beam spans-barn floor

Where can I find information on laminated beams,
I'beams, and site-built beams? I would like to
have information on their spans and load bearing
capabilities. I have a barn that I'm transforming
into a shop. I'm using the second floor for a
woodshop. there are two 23' beams consisting of 4
12' 6x6" posts supporting the second floor. These
are supported with 4x4 posts at each end and in the
middle of each 12' post. There is a brick footer
running from the front of the barn to the rear
supporting the posts. 12' joists run from the left
side of the barn to the left beam. 6' joists run from
this beam to the rightmost beam. Then 12' joists
run from this beam to the right wall. Therefore,
there are 10 posts supporting the beam. I would
like to eliminate the 6 posts in the center of
the first floor. Does anyone know where I can
find information on this?
