Bathtub drain location in concrete basement

Posted by Kelley R on October 19th, 1999 07:26 PM

We are finishing my mother's basement. Her house is less than 3 years old. We recently discovered the contractor made a mistake and put the drain line for the bathtub 17 inches from the wall, which is way too far out. All the standard tubs we have looked at have the drain closer to the wall. Since it is a concrete floor, we can't move the drain pipe. There is also no clearance to slide the tub back and build a false wall/seat to cover the extra space. We were wondering if it would be possible to elevate the tub so we could attach the drain to the tub and have it slope under the tub to the drain pipe that's already there in the floor. Any ideas?
