Basement vapor barrier?

We are planning on finishing our basement and then selliing our home. With recent articles suggesting that you do not use a vapor barrier in a basement, I am confused. I do not want to have a dehumidifier running while the house is on the market. Our basement is above ground on 2 1/2 sides. I live in Seattle. The basement slab is insulated, we have lots of footing drains, and there are drains under the slab also. Water has not been a problem. Help!
