basement tiles

Posted by Jan on April 28th, 2001 11:45 AM

I recently pulled up carpeting from my basement floor, there is tile underneath. I found that the padding was glued down and am having a real difficult time getting the adhesive up. About 6months later I ma attempting to scrape the remaining glue/padding from the floor when I started the question whether these tiles contain aspestos. My home was built in 1960. I have come to the conclusion it may be easier to just have new carpet put down....Thoughts please. Adhesive removers come with s myriad of warnings (neurotoxin) and it will cost a fortune to have it stripped by a professional.
