Basement leaks- last time

All water leaks are solved at the EXTERIOR of your house. You need to find out why the water is coming into your house and not flowing away from your house.

First: The ground should slope away from your house at a 1 inch per foot slope for at least 6 feet. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways. If there is a large hill on one of the sides of your house, then a simple swale will solve the problem.

Second: Make sure your gutters are working properly. This includes the storm sewer drains. Most of the older homes were built with a terra cotta drain system that is susceptible to breakage and root clogs.

There are other checks, but, these two are responsible for well over 90% of basement leaks regardless of what type of walls you have. Check these items thoroughly before you do anything else.........
