Basement floor

Posted by Ed Quinn on March 23rd, 2002 05:51 AM

I have a 45 year old cape the basement was partially finished by the first owner and a tile was put down on the concrete floor its a 8 inch square lenolium looking tile I think it is glued because not a one of the tiles is loose or chipped but the finish has worn off and I would like to replace it with either a ceramic floor tile or maybe one of the new hardwood laminate products. Do I need to remove the tile and what if it has aspestos in it? what can I put over it to put the new floor on. In 21 years only had a little moisture once basement is very dry. Knock on wood.
