baseboard reasons

Steve and Henry both have some good points, but if you install the carpet befor the baseboard, then when you change the carpet again you will have to take off the baseboard so you can get the carpet up since the carpet would be trapped under the baseboard. If you have 1/4 round take it off and finish the baseboard behind where the 1/4 round was, you can't finish carpet up to 1/4 round properly. Just as well if the carpet ever needs to be restretched the base has to come off again.
