We are having a new house built and it appears that the builder is taking a short cut. Instead of mitering the joints of the baseboard molding, they say they are using a "coped joint", which in my opinion are not lining up very well. I have tried to do some research and it appears that the coped joint generally is used on older houses where the angles are not 90 degrees.
Although we have said that we don't like the look and have never seen it before, the builder insists that all builders do it that way. Is the builder correct- is a coped joint better? Any assistance with this matter would be appreciated!
