baseboard height

I have installed baseboard so it barely touches the carpet, but leaves no gaps. This allows the carpet to be removed later. Normally, the tack strip is an inch or so away from the wall. You don't want to install baseboard directly on top of the tack strip because you will have to remove the molding when the carpet is changed.
