In reply to Post & Beam Barn by Victor Engel on March 24th, 1998 03:36 PM [Go to top of thread]

I am doing one now in Newport NH.
We took the barn down few years ago in Brighton Ma- best we can guess the bar is late 1700's early 1800's and /or combination of both.
We are assembling the barn frame on a frost protected foundation and slab.
Then building an insulating concrete form building around it- we are using a product called Therm-O-Wall.
It will be a super insulated home with all the benefits of ICF's but when you go in you'll have the old barn beams and wood to give that affect.
The floors are all stamped and /or stained concrete with radiant floor heat.
The project is slated to start construction as soon as we can get through mud season.
