My Attic has adequate ventilation. It has continous soffit vents all around, Ridge vents on the roof ridges, and I have installed 3 2 sq foot vents on the roof to let the air out. I have used this type of fan in two previous houses, and made sure that there was adequate ventilation to let the air out of the attic. I live in the foot hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and typically during the summer our temperatures cool down to the low 60's each night. Turning the AC off and the fan on helps bring in some of that nice cool air (although sometimes accompanied by pollen, etc)which is nearly free compared to the AC. I want the thermostat because I don't want it to get too cool.
