attic ventilation

Posted by dk in MD on June 21st, 2000 11:39 PM

Our new old home (1940s Colonial in DC 'burbs) has a
finished attic. The previous owner kept one side for
storage and the other was (apprently) used as an office.
Each end has an in-swinging window. In addition, the
office end has a small a/c unit. The rest of the house
has CAC. The attic is accessed thru a door in a MBR
closet. This door is louvered. The heat in the attic
creeps down into the MBR. Until we change doors to solid
how do we keep cool? Right now I put a box fan in one of
the windows which seems to help. Sorry for the length
of the ? but Ive noticed that responses always require
more info.
