Attic Ventalation

Posted by Jeff LaGrow on October 13th, 2000 11:39 AM

I have noticed that when leaving in the early morning after a cool night that the roof above my side attic (side attic is on second floor)looks like it has moisture on it. My side attic has plenty of insulation on the floor as well asthe wallthat faces the interior.the opposing three walls face the side of the exterior as well as the roof. I have one gable ventand there are not soffits. Is this dampness that I see on the shingles bad? The side attic does not have any mold or an apparent moisture problem inside the attic. The house is appx 55 yrs old and we have lived there for 12 years. In addition, we put on a new roof five years ago but only did it because there was two layers on the old and they must have been at least 20 years old themselves. The roof has a 12/12 pitch.
