... Some engineered floors can't be refinished. Some can, up to 2 or 3 times like a traditional, 3/4" hardwood floor.

The engineered floors are less expensive than the 3/4" ones and they're marketed to the DIYer (which I can debate the merits of that!) ANYWAYS, it will not 'wear' and sound like a solid floor. I'm not sure as to whether or not engineered flooring 'adds' or 'takes away' value in a home. I DO know that a finished, 3/4" solid hardwood floor adds significant value. 'nough said.

My best to ya and hope this helps.

PS: If you're wondering if the floor can be refinished or not, your Home Inspector may be able to tell you. (Hopefully, you had a home inspection ...) He may come back for a look-see if you ask him to do so 'if he is in the neighborhooe' (and at no charge.) Otherwise, contact a refinisher for exact identification and condition-assessment of your floor(s).
