Asphalt Shingle Roof Details

Posted by Andy Green on December 27th, 1997 07:57 AM

I am building a 10'x10' timber shed with double pitch roof with fascia running all around.
I want to roof it with asphalt shingles. I plan to fit an underlay of felt first with both drip and rake edges. I am a little unsure as to the exact configuration and fitting details of these 'Rake/drip edge' components and wonder if anyone could give me an idea as to a recommended detail with respect to the underfelt/fascia/shingles. Also should I be glueing the felt/ shingles as well as nailing. What should the cross section of a typical Drip/Rake edge look like? An aluminium extrusion of 'L' cross section? Is the rake different to the drip? I live in Scotland and the builders merchants here don't seem to have come accross such details before. (maybe called by a different architectural name here)
Thank you in advance for your patience.
