My husband and I just bought a Home, one of the conditions of us buying the home. Is for a inspector to look at the House first. Well the inspector called us last night with the report and most of the items we already knew. The House is a 120 years old, so work to be done, no surprice there. But the thing that worries me is that the inspector told us there is aspestos in the basement. The old water heather was not removed and it is incapsulated with aspestos, also the water pipes in the basement are insulated with aspestos. Now we love the house, and want to know what to do. A) remove aspestos from basement $3000,00 canadian dollars or incapulate pipes and old water heather with a protactive layer $500,-, what is the best thing to do? The whole aspestos thing really worries me as we also have two kids. We will not use the Basement for anything else exept some storage.
Hope you can help us out with some advice,
