Filters for asbestos work MUST be classified as a
HEPA filter. These filters (cartridges) are a component
of either a half face or full face respirator.
You may find them at a full service building supply
store, such as Home Depot, or through a safety
supply vendor you can find in the yellow pages.
There are some brands that are disposable, that is,
use them once and throw them away with your asbestos
waste. In addition to the respirator, purchase
a paper (Tyvek) suit. You do not want to comtaminate
your personal clothing and place this clothing into
your laundry. If you have any additional concerns,
you can contact me at: I have
administrated my firm's asbestos program for the
past 15 years.
