All the instructions that I have read with ceiling fans state just the opposite. Air flow should be toward the ceiling in the winter forcing warmer air at the ceiling to move towards the walls and down. In the summer, air should be moving down from the fan helping to create a "cooling" effect by directly blowing air on those below. How does one pull hot air "up" in the summer when warm air always rises and is found at the ceiling any way? Do you really want a "breeze" hitting you in the winter?
