Aprilaire Humidifier question

Posted by Alan on December 29th, 2001 09:43 AM

Got my humidifier hooked up a couple days ago and don't have a manual of course.

How long should it take to notice a difference? We've had 15 degree weather so it's been running quite a bit. The installer said to turn it up to 60 and leave it until condensation starts to be noticable then back it off. It's been running for two days at that level and no condensation, and honestly I can't feel a difference in the house. How long should this take?

How much water should be coming out the bottom? Seems like a good bit, which is causing other problems. When the furnace was put in, they used a sump-pump to catch condensation and it's pumped out into the crawlsspace because I have no floor drains in the basement. The Aprilaire is draining into this pump also so it's pumping alot of water out causing dampness along the basement wall. If I run the discharge hose outside it will probably freeze up?

Thanks for any thoughts!
