After experimenting with BEHR's SandWash paint in several rooms so far, we found that the best way to apply it is to do a very light first coat, then shortly after do a second semi-heavy "first" coat to even everything out. Either that or it made applying the final coat an ordeal. Applying these two pre-coats allowed for just one final coat, but it was important to always fully soak the roller and work in very small sections. Just use the brush for the trimming and small, hard to reach should only need one light first coat and a heavy final coat. Using the brush seems to work more effectively in applying the paint, but the texture looks a little different. Hope this helps.
