Denise, absolutely. Yes, you should put down a felt paper layer between your wood floor and the subfloor. Often used is 15lb. or 30lb. felt paper. Black, comes in rolls, and is also used on roofing below the shingles. Normally this is stapled to the subfloor, with the edges butted, not overlapped. Be sure to thoroughly clean the subfloor before placing the felt, and clean the felt often, as you lay your floor.
