Another thought....

I am not a professional drywall person, but I have done my fair share of hanging drywall and taping over the years. many years ago, (more than I would like to think) I gave up on paper tape and switched to fiberglass. (I always had trouble with the paper "bubbling up") I have to say that I have never had a joint crack as described.
One thought comes to mind.... Is it possible that if the sheets of drywall are attached too well in the center and not along the seams, that movement at the seams would be encouraged? I always put drywall screws about every 12 inches along the seams, but only a very few in the center portion of the sheets. That way I feel the sheets are firmly held together at the seams, and little if any movement can happen. Just another thought.
