Thanks. We have been looking at sample gas log fireplaces. While the "front" plate (insert)is metal, I've seen a facade of a type of poured concrete (also marble & faux marble) and extended wood mantles) that surrounds the fireplaces. It was nice and we've considered them all. The poured concrete takes at least a month from order time to receiving it.

I guess I was wondering if the exterior (different types) was set off far enough by the insert would it then be safe.

It's a lot to consider!!
