Do take Harold's comments to heart. The one thing I'd like to stress (not add) is that if there's a power failure, your ENTIRE house is down. Consider Propane for hot water and/or heat, even consider installing a wood stove (or a propane stove) as a backup.
Unless you plan on wiring your home in such a way that you can easily hook up a gas-powered generator, you'll be living elsewhere until the juice is back on line. My best to ya and hope this helps.
