make sure the removal contractor is as responsible as yourself. They should be licensed and insured for the type of work they do..You can shop around for bids, but be sure everyone that gives you one has the wherewithall to do the job right. The price will depend greatly on the type of tree, location and accessibility, and how deteriorated it is. As Steve notes, removal of the stump costs more as does total removal and cleanup. If you just get the tree knocked down and sawed up for firewood, you may not pay too much. Luck, Kizmet
