Something that can screw up a system is air -- it builds up in HW systems in the high spots. there should be a little valve on the radiators -- it oens with a screwdriver; use a tin can to catch any water spray.

In my parent's house, my mother griped for years about her bath being cold -- we finally discovered that the radiator in that room was shut off completely. I'm not sure whether or not we told her, but we did fix it.
