AIR-CONDITIONERS FOR BASEMENT WINDOWS

Posted by B Duncan on June 11th, 2000 08:14 PM

I WANT TO INSTALL AN AIR-CONDITIONER IN ON OF MY BASEMENT WINDOWS. PROBLEM IS MY HOUSE WAS BUILT IN THE FORTIES AND ALL THE BASEMENT WINDOWS WHERE MADE OF METAL SET INTO CEMENT. THEY WHERE ALL REPLACED WITH NEW VINYL WINDOWS BY ME ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO. THE BIG PROBLEM IS:
1) THE WINDOW OPENINGS ARE TOO SHORT IN HEIGHT FOR AN SMALL AC UNIT.

2) THERES NO CLEARANCE UNDER THE BASEMENT WINDOWS, IN OTHER WORDS- THE BASE OF THE OPENINGS ARE FLUSH TO GROUND OUT- SIDE .

SO THERE IT IS , I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH HEIGHT NOR DO I HAVE ENOUGH CLEARANCE FROM THE GROUND.
WHAT CAN I DO WITH OUT BLOWING OUT THE WALL.
