In reply to Refinishing Parquet Oak Floors (ADVICE NEEDED)!!! by Ron C on January 25th, 1999 03:14 PM [Go to top of thread]

I since discovered that the owner sanded and refinished only the parts of the floors showing signs of wear. Then, he applied a coat of poly to these areas, and a second coat over the whole floor. He used Minwax Helmsman Spar Varnish Clear with Satin finish. This is waterproof outdoor stuff intended for boats etc.

My questions are:
* Is this product recommended or OK to use on oak parquet floors?
* Will it allow the wood to breath.
* Will his partial restoration cause headachs during a complete sand and restoration?
* Is there anyone out there listening that can give any advice?

Thanks for your time.
