adding color to primer paint

Posted by marsha on August 22nd, 2002 01:29 PM

Hi Bob,

We have a (stained) cedar sided home, which is being attacked by carpentar bees. We have been told that the only way to prevent them from chewing through the stained wood, is to paint the wood after it's been primed. Since the stain on the cedar is currently a medium to dark shade of brown, and we'd prefer to paint it a similar shade. Is it possible to add color to the primer paint, so that we can minimized the number of coats of paint it'll take to cover the primer?
