acoustic ceiling removal

Posted by debbie on February 3rd, 2003 01:06 PM

I started removing my acoustic ceiling in my living room, I only have a 4'x4' area removed, I used goggles and a dust mask. I thought the ceiling was redone after the houses were burned in 1991, but after asking several people, nobody knows if the old acoustic ceiling was removed and redone or if it was just left alone because their was no fire or smoke damage to the living room area.

My 1st question is, have a exposed myself to a potential health risk and how severe? The 2nd question is, my living room area is small, 10'x12', would I be able to continue to remove it myself and what special precautions must I take? I don't think I can afford to have a licensed someone remove it, and I can't leave it unfinished. HELP!!
