Access hole?

What I meant by wood and brick is if you were going to have them attatched to each like you would dryall to plaster.

As far as creating an "edging" that would not hurt a thing I would just wonder how that would look. However the two materials would not be touching. I think you will still need to caulk around the wood tho. (Because of the expansion/contraction thing).

If you want the ceiling/wall to look uniform in appearance you will need to use like materials.....this was my point.

If you wanted this to be an access hole, then by all it in and make it easy to get into.
