In my humble opinion, the carpenter ants are experiencing a flood due to the excessive amount of water from the power washing job. Of course, now that their homes are flooded, they search for new ones and your house is MORE than the next best place to go.

The good news is that ideal condition in the living quarters of homes are not the best places for these ants to reside. They have temperature and moisture requirements so that relagates them to the cool, more 'damp' areas in and around the home. So, what do you do ...

First and foremost, no matter which method you choose, you need to consider pets and children!!! If necessary, get on your hands and knees and see if you'll 'stumble' upon whatever you put down, inside the home as well as outside the home. With that in mind, go to Pest Center, and search the WEB page for carpenter ants. The first section is the Indoor Home section and the one below it is the Outdoor Section. My best to ya and hope this helps.
