Thank you to everyone who posted here. Your comments have given us much to think about. We had decided to go ahead and purchase the land with plans to either build and escape our city home, or rent out a mobile home there. Luckily our section is the nicest (for now) and the first seen when entering the neighborhood. And we've met two of our neighbors who seem "normal." Another lucky is that there are restrictions against junk cars, trash, businesses, and the like that have been enforced successfully by others. So considering everything, we'll definitely talk with an appraisor before deciding. I believe we can either get along with our neighbors or avoid seeing them altogether since the tracts are large enough. But we'll go with a smaller home. We have a dream of building our last home on a nearby lake and feel this current home will be worth it's weight in memories. And perhaps it will provide a home for our son's family when the time comes. Thanks again and hopefully this will help others decide also. Good luck with all of your neighbors!
