I know that your problem has been solved. Sanding the floor is what I would have done especially since the odor has been soaked into the wood for a long time. But for future references that may help anyone out there with similar problems and can't sand (a rug for example) there is a product called "NATURE'S MIRACLE" . It is an enzyme solution where the enzymes actually break apart the molecules that cause the odor. Once they are intact the smell is gone. I have used it many times. I have tried everything on the market including bleech and ammonia and this is the only thing that has ever worked. The product can only be purchased in a veterinarian or specialty pet supply store and is around $35.00 for a two gallon jug. After you apply it on the spot, leave it there to dry up and don't wash that spot for a couple of weeks. You may even want to apply more if needed. Good Luck.
