It's often recommended that a refrigerator have it's own dedicated 15 Amp circuit. In addition to Steve's comments, many items ratings say they use a certain amount of power, but actually pull more than this rating briefly at startup, and refrigerators are one of those items.

When you put a refrigerator in a circuit with other items, it can work just fine until that one time when the fridge decides to come on at the same time something else is running. Never load a circuit so close as to not have room for those types of possibilities.
