Hi Terri,

If you have boards in some not-so-conspicious places like closets, you can 'abscond' replacement boards from there. If you do remove any boards, of course, you'll want to consider replacing them as well with 'something' ...

Also, I wouldn't recommend you fill any 'gaps' in between the planks/strips. These gaps are most likely due to low humidity. If your gaps come and go over the course of 4 seasons, consider a humidifier system. With one, the boards will eventually absorbe some moisture and expand a bit. If you can keep a constant 35-40% humidity level in the room(s) / house, then your boards will stay 'static'.
