My apologies, Don, for insinuating that you stole the saw or bought/found it knowing it was 'hot'. I was just having fun with 'bc' since he mentioned that maybe it was stolen because the 'serial numbers were removed.' Write it off as a laugh.
You did say the serial # was 'removed' so it lent itself to what 'bc' said. No matter. As far as the model # still existing, it's not a serial #. Serial #'s identify the model way beyond it's model. Vice-versa, a model # most likely only says what model it is. Kinda like what a VIN # is to a car along with its model.
Well, I've gone waaaaay beyond your post/question. Oh well, ... You should be able to get good info with just the Make and Model information. You shouldn't need the Serial #.
