We just purchased a house that was built in 1956, and both the bathrooms are original. However, the worst one has yellow ceramic tiles half way up all the walls and on the floor. THe fixtures are turquoise. I don't want to attempt to pull the tile off of the walls, because behind the tile is cement and wire mesh. We thought about ripping the tile off of the floor and replacing it with white ceramic tile. THe counter is also 1950's yellow formica, so we thought about putting the same tile we want to put on the floor on the counter top. ALso, we talked about replacing the sink and toilet with white replacements and having the tub fitted with a white vinel liner. What do you think. All comments are welcomed.
