the floor place I gave the business to is not charging, stating that this is something expected, unless it's new construction, and his policy for the las 32 years is to not lose customers over a lousy $125.00, particularly when his average sale is upwards of $3000 or more; he showed me where his price was higher than HD, but he agreed to sell me the wood and carpeting for the same price as HD, without the additional add stated by him, and several contractors I spoke with, the HD charges are much like the "undercoating" and dealer prep charges that unscrupulous dealers try to gouge out of customers...labor is labor...hmmm...sounds like why the price of new construction has skyrocketed....does it have something to do with interest rates?? Food for thought
