3-way wiring problem

Posted by John on December 9th, 2002 12:07 PM

I have two switches controlling my exterior lights: one in the garage and one near the front door. I decided to install a 3-way dimmer switch near the front door so I could (obviously) dim our pot lights outside. The dimmer is 3-way, with a lit push button which turns the lights on and off. It works fine, except when I turn the lights off using the garage switch. When I do this, I am unable to turn the lights on using the dimmer button. I have to turn the lights back on using the garage switch then I can turn them off again using the dimmer button. Any ideas how to resolve this problem? BTW, the house is new...only 2 months old. I live in Canada.
