Hello, Yes you should have bought a 3-way switch. So get one now for sure. First turn off breaker. Get a meter. You could have burn a wire right in half. Whatever that switched operated was also controlled by another switch. So that gives you 3 place you have to check to make sure everything is ok. 2 switches and a light. With power OFF. Try ringing out the wires from here to their. (set meter to ohms and check red wire at one switch to ground and then ground red wire at other switch to check for continuity) do the same for the black between swithes. The other wires at the switch go to (blk & wht) light at 1 switch and to power from other switch. (Probably) If checking these 3 spots you still don't see a problem you better get help. Because it is to hard to explain in text msg. How this circuit is wired. Good Luck
