Hi Grant: As long as the wire you use is rated for the amps your machine will pull; you'll be ok with an extension cord not exceeding around 75ft. It's much safer to have more outlets closer to where the work is though (big wire is a trip hazard, and you may drop something on it). Make sure you have an outlet and plug rated for the amps too. Probably a 40 or 50A electric range outlet and plug will do. Happy restorations, Brian. Did you say it's a Sola brand, or solar. Sola make very good power conditioners & battery backup systems (UPS's), I know, I sell them. The subsidiary is called Best Power Technology.
